Application
With the increasingly stringent environmental protection, motor gasoline is developing in the direction of lead-free, low olefin and high octane number. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) has a high octane number, and is one of the most ideal blending components for the production of high-quality unleaded gasoline; high-purity MTBE is also the raw material for the production of polymer-grade isobutylene. Therefore, MTBE is a petrochemical product that has developed rapidly at home and abroad in recent years.

The catalyst used in the production of MTBE is a macroporous strong acid resin catalyst. In order to realize the localization of MTBE synthesis catalysts, in the early 1990s, as a leading company in the domestic resin catalyst industry, entrusted by Sinopec Corporation, with strong technical development and production capacity, developed MTBE dedicated D005 etherification Resin catalyst, and qualified products were produced in 1994. In practice, it is the earliest resin catalyst product used in MTBE production in China. It is suitable for various etherification process devices, such as: tubular reactor, cylindrical fixed bed, expanded bed, external circulation fixed bed, mixed phase bed, bulk catalytic distillation and bundled catalytic distillation and other processes. The market coverage rate reaches more than 90%. The D005 etherification resin catalyst was identified by the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation and won the National New Product Award. 
 
Appraisal results: The product fully meets the MTBE production requirements, with stable quality and advanced technology, and is actively recommended to the industry. The catalyst has the advantages of high exchange capacity, uniform particles, good abrasion resistance, and light appearance. It is used as an etherification catalyst and has excellent low-temperature reaction activity and selectivity. The quality level and catalytic performance of the D005 etherification resin catalyst are comparable to those at that time. The performance of the international advanced catalyst A-15 is equivalent.
